2005 Festival of Giving
The MMCF had the opportunity to sell tickets to the 2005 Real Simple
Festival of Giving at Apache Mall in Rochester, MN. This event, which
was held on Sunday, November 20, 2005, was an exclusive after-hours
shopping experience. The entire price of the ticket was donated to the
MMCF!
The $5 ticket allowed patrons exclusive entrance to the Mall from 7pm
to 10pm. There was live entertainment and delicious treats and beverages
available as everyone shopped. Many of the Mall merchants offered
special discounts for that evening only.
Door prizes were given away, including a $500 mall gift certificate!
Two of the people that purchased tickets to support us, Katie Price and
Ruth Friedli, were selected to win door prizes. It was so exciting to
have our benefactors win!
We were able to raise over $500 from this event thanks to the many
volunteers and eager shoppers!

2005 Holiday Cards for Life
This second annual event again had volunteers of the MMCF hand stamp and
assemble Christmas cards. Based on last years sales of 500 dozen, the
MMCF chose to pre-assemble, then sell 600 dozen Christmas cards.
Even though we did not reach our goal of selling 600 dozen cards, we
were still able to donate proceeds of $3000 to Rochester’s Hope Lodge.
The donation was made in time for the Lodge to receive matching funds
from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation challenge grant,
effectively making our donation worth $6000!
Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped stamp, assemble, sell,
and deliver the cards. Thank you especially to Donna Kuhlman and her
family and friends for putting many long hours into this project!
A special thank you goes out to Hartland Fuel Products, LLC, for
donating all of the envelopes and adhesive used to assemble the cards.

2005 Walk For the Cure
[photos]
This first annual walk was held September 24, 2005, at the East
Silver Lake shelter in Rochester, MN. Walkers followed a 2.5 mile course
around Silver Lake, and finished just minutes before rain showers
started! There were 97 registered walkers that helped raise over $10K,
with $9K being donated to the International Myeloma Foundation for their
Bank on a Cure program.
KTTC's Betsy Singer was the celebrity emcee for the event and Dr.
Martha Lacy from Mayo Clinic delivered a short program. Eve delivered a
short, but emotional thank you to all in attendance, and a special
appearance was made by Kelly Cox, International Myeloma Foundation Vice
President from North Hollywood, California. Kelly found himself not
quite dressed for the chilly fall day, but his fantastic personality
warmed the whole crowd.
Walkers were greeted at the finish line with hotdogs, chips, pop,
water and many wonderful prize drawings from area businesses. Massage
therapists were on hand to relax weary walkers with complimentary chair
massages.
Thank you to the volunteers that helped set-up, work during, and
clean-up after this event. Thank you also to committee members Juli
Donovan, Jan Simpson, and Janet Swenson.
